Faces in the Fire, by local author Donnita Rogers

Do you enjoy Norse mythology?  Do you read historical or fantasy novels?
Did you once read Beowulf, and wonder what happened to some of the characters?
Donnita Rogers, an author who lives part of the year in Northfield, has written a novel titled Faces in the Fire, the first of a series titled Women of Beowulf.  The novel centers on Freawarie, the daughter of Danish King Hrothgar, growing up in a sixth century Viking settlement.   When a night stalking monster invades the settlement Freawarie must decide who she can trust to save the kingdom from evil.
The author is a retired English literature teacher who taught at high schools and colleges in Texas.  She has always been interested in Norse mythology.
After retiring, she began five years of research on the Viking Age culture, including travels to Sweden and Denmark. Faces in the Fire is the first book of a trilogy.  The author has generously donated a copy to the Northfield Public Library, and is available for you to read.  See her website http://www.donnitalrogers.com/ for more information
